Why Worry

I was in church today when the pastor chose the title, "What Good is Worry," for his sermon. It made me think about things in my life where worry was a symptom but never the cause of my discouragement.

During my salesman period, I had a very wise mentor named Dale K. Wolff. He was a very intelligent and handsome man, who never seemed to have a care in the world. I, on the other hand, put things that were not too important, in the forefront of my life. When they didn't work out as they should, I would go into a tither of concern over how to make them right.

Dale approached me, and my problem, one day with solid advice; advice to which I have adhered to ever since, and it has been so good, I have to pass it on. Simply, he said to me. "If it's something you can do something about, do it. If it something you can't do anything about, forget it!"

This direction made sense because if there is no solution, why waste your time trying to manufacture one? Is it not wiser to put it behind you and go on with your life in a positive fashion?

There was a popular plaque, some time ago, that featured a nice replica of a bass on it. When you pushed the button ,or even walked in front of it, it would sing this song,

"Here's a little song I wrote, you might want to sing it, note for note, don't worry; be happy."

Worry is for those that have nothing else to do with their time...those whose cup is one-half empty and never one-half full.

I sincerely believe in putting my life into God's hands, and in so doing, all of my worry will be left behind, making room for a positive future.
